An IPL Photofacial is a treatment where a series of controlled, gentle pulses of light are directed at the surface of the skin and the layers underneath. A broad spectrum of light is transmitted through a small transparent hand-piece, which is placed over the skin. The light penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the area being treated, to rejuvenate the skin resulting in a more youthful-appearing appearance. The light can be used to treat areas on the face, chest, neck, arms and hands. The IPL Photofacial can improve the appearance of aged skin, and remove age spots, benign brown pigments, and broken capillaries.

Inside the hand-piece, there are cut off filters, which change the wavelength range to specific light parameters. This allows the IPL Photofacial system to be utilized for different treatments and skin types.

The IPL Photofacial is used to treat:

* Redness
* Brown spots
* Acne scars
* Age spots
* Dark circles around the eyes
* Sun spots
* Broken capillaries on the face
* Skin texture and pigment irregularities

Each treatment takes approximately 30 minutes. For best results, 3 to 6 treatments should be completed at 3-week intervals. Since each patient’s skin will respond differently, some patients may see significant results after two or three treatments, while other patients will require more treatments. Once optimal results have been achieved, follow-up treatments are recommended once or twice a year.
